The Perfect Fit for Your Pooch
Finding the paw-fect collar for your furry best friend is all about the details—after all, every dog is unique! Our bespoke collars are crafted to be as individual as your dog, promising a perfect fit for comfort, safety, and style.
Why Size Matters
Your dog’s collar is more than a fashion statement—it’s a fit for their lifestyle. A snug collar can keep them safe, while an ill-fitting one might slip off or even hinder their breathing. That's why measuring your dog's neck for that tailor-made fit is key.
Measuring Up: A Step-by-Step Guide
With our step-by-step guide and your loving attention to detail, you'll have all the help you need to measure your dog for a collar that's comfortable, safe, and stylish:
Softly Does It: Use a soft measuring tape or a piece of string (measured against a ruler later) to wrap gently around your dog's neck. The measurement should be taken at the base of the neck, where the collar would likely sit.
Ignore the Fluff: Focus on the body, not the fur. Aim to measure your dog’s actual neck, avoiding any extra fluff for the most accurate size.
Teamwork for Accuracy: It’s easier with a friend! While one holds your dog steady, the other can take accurate measurements of the neck and body circumference.
The Two-Finger Rule: For a snug fit, make sure you can slip two fingers under the tape, 90 degrees to the dogs skin. Effectively adding an extra 1-2 inches (2.5 - 5 cm) for the final collar size. Note this dimension down for when it is time to make an order.
Width and Weight Matter: Consider your dog's size and strength when selecting the width and material. A toy breed won't suit a wide, heavy-duty collar, and likewise, a sturdy breed needs something more robust than a slim, lightweight model. At the moment Otis & I collar are only suitable for small to medium dogs, but don’t worry, we’ll be expanding our range to accomdate those larger pups very soon.
Whether they’re bounding through the park or snuggling up for cuddles, your dog deserves a collar that’s just right.
